To provide Medical Clinical support services up to five (5) days per week. Provide family- orientated primary medical care services at Western Oregon Service Unit, Chemawa Indian Health Center . Within specialty area, assumes responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention, therapy, maintenance and rehabilitation of family members in the capacity of a family practice physician.
A. Interview and examine patients, review past medical history, and requests and/or performs diagnostic tests and examinations deemed necessary to obtain all possible information related to each case. Make preliminary diagnosis, directs, prescribes, or provides treatment, or arrange for specialized care, or patient referral as required. Base decisions upon information obtained, professional medical knowledge and skills, and prescribed policies and procedures. Make notes of observations to be incorporated into clinical records. Provides emergency care as required to stabilize patient and arrange for transfer of care to an appropriate facility/ provider for the level of care needed. Provide definitive management in all medical categories for cases that do not require referral. Gives total patient care including prevention, health maintenance, early diagnosis, treatment and follow-up services to patients under his/her care.
B. Conduct outpatient clinics making observations appropriate to the Outpatient's underlying diseases and treatment plan, including current symptoms. Review the patient's medications, diet, therapy course, adherence to management plan, and patient observations. Modify regimen as indicated. Instructs and counsels patients and family members as required.
C. Track the health of, and treat, both mother and fetus throughout a course of pregnancy. Prescribes and directs prenatal and postnatal care. Seeks specialty consultation when appropriate.
D. To refer patients to appropriate contracted medical or other government facilities, providing full clinical information for care and diagnostic procedures that cannot be adequately provided at the local Indian Health Service facilities. Coordinates and integrates information obtained into the health record at the Service Unit, and assures the provision of timely follow-up care as required.
E. Shall assure preparation of appropriate and timely medical records for all patients seen to assure the accumulation and organization of all pertinent clinical data needed to provide comprehensive medical care. Coordinate clinical reports and correspondence concerning patients under his/her care to physicians, hospitals, and other individuals and facilities.
F. Shall manage all aspects of patient care electronically, using knowledge and skill of existing automation equipment required supporting all clinical/ medical programs i.e. IHS-EHR, Microsoft Office, and Outlook, etc.
G. Will work closely with allied health professionals (i.e. community health nurses, social workers, health educators, etc.) to utilize and coordinate the services of other health care professionals in the management of the families' medical, psychological, and social problems.

Requirements:
MD/DO
a. Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).
b. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathy degree, completion of internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada.
c. Board Certification: current board certification in Family Medicine or Med /Peds Dual certification
d. Licensure: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. State licensure must permit independent practice. Provider must hold DEA controlled substances registration Certificate.
e. Experience: Board Certification
f. Must be willing and able to pass Federal Security Clearance
